Selecting the right sintered mesh structure for your process
Match your micron rating, layer architecture, and differential pressure tolerances to secure stable pore geometry and repeatable cleaning cycles under harsh operating conditions.

Determines absolute particle retention and pore size stability under high differential pressure.
Combines fine filter cloth with protective and structural reinforcement meshes.
Diffusion bonding prevents wire shifting and withstands rigorous backwashing cycles.
Tailored for corrosion resistance across aggressive chemical, thermal, and sanitary streams.
Sintered mesh engineering guide
Understand layer configurations, pore stability, and thermal limits before specifying diffusion-bonded filter media for demanding industrial processes.
Unlike non-woven media or unbonded mesh, solid-state diffusion bonding fuses every wire intersection. Pore apertures remain permanently fixed under continuous forward flow and reverse pulsation.
Diffusion bonding gives the mesh high tensile and compressive strength. Sintered sheets withstand bursting pressures and severe backwash shock cycles without media deformation or tearing.
Fabricated from AISI 316L, 304, 310S, 904L, Alloy 20, or Hastelloy C-22. Retains structural integrity in extreme cryogenic and high-temperature furnace or hot-gas environments.
Sintered mesh sheets can be sheared, folded, rolled into cylinders, and TIG/laser welded without aperture distortion. Cleanable via ultrasonic bath, chemical solvent flushing, or pyrolysis.
Layer structure & composite layout
How diffusion-bonding stacks determine strength and flow rates.
1-Layer / 2-Layer Composite
Standard & LaminateSingle fine woven wire cloth laminated with a coarse square support mesh. Ideal for light-to-moderate differential pressure backwash filters.
5-Layer Sintered Wire Mesh
Standard Industrial SpecThe global benchmark structure composed of protective layer, control layer, dispersion layer, and two heavy reinforcement layers.
Custom Multi-Layer Laminates
3 to 8+ LayersEngineered combinations incorporating perforated plate backing, woven cloth, and fiber felt for high structural rigidity.
| Feature | Sintered | Woven |
|---|---|---|
| Filtration Rating (Nominal/Absolute) | 1 μm – 200 μm (Rigid) | 2 μm – 500 μm (Vulnerable to shifting) |
| Standard Max Working Temperature | 600°C continuous (SS316L) | 400°C (Weave distortion risk) |
| Burst / Pressure Resistance | Extremely high with support layers | Requires separate backing plates |
| Ultrasonic / Backwash Reusability | Repeated cycles without loss of rating | Limited backwash cycles |
